Project Spotlight: 'Edge Of Space' by Handyman Studios

There are some things that just seem like they're cool ideas.  Things like laser sharks.  If you're wondering where you might find such a thing, look no further than Handyman Studios' Edge of Space.  If you're looking for a game with an intriguing premise, great graphics, and interesting gameplay mechanics, Edge of Space is your stop for all of that, too.

Edge of Space is a sandbox survival/adventure game.  It takes place (obviously) in space, and you get a ton of cool things like futuristic weapons, mechs, jetpacks, and armor.  There's a ton to do, and you can tackle things alone or in a multiplayer mode.  The graphics are slick and detailed, and it's clear that every piece of the game is a labor of love, created to keep you entertained for hours.

The lowest level pledge will get you a DRM-free copy of the game.  Higher pledges will let you vote on certain aspects of the game and chat with the developers during beta testing, which gives a great communal feel to the game and adds to the impression that Handyman Studios really wants to listen to their fans.  Aside from "real life" rewards, like concept art, soundtrack downloads, and t-shirts, you can also get some cool in-game items, including pets and exclusive armors for your character.

There's really a personal feel with Edge of Space, with a ton of updates and conversation happening between the developers and fans.  They have a whole bunch of videos posted of various gameplay, so you won't feel like you're pledging blind.  There's a lot of fun to be found with Edge of Space, so if sandbox games - or just great games in general - are your thing, definitely check it out.
